Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy to Begin Writing Third Before Sunrise Film

In 1995’s Before Sunrise a very young Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy spent a long, meandering, romantic night together in Vienna. In the 2004  follow-up, Before Sunset, an older, more jaded Hawke and Delpy spent a long, meandering day together in Paris, still crazy and tortured about each other after all these years. Now it looks like the third film might be on the way. (Berlin for a 24-hour rendezvous?) Speaking to the French publication AlloCine, Hawke said that he thought it was just about time he, Delpy, and their director, Richard Linklater — the threesome who co-wrote the previous films — got started on a third. “I don’t know what we’re going to do but I know the three of us have been talking a lot in the last six months,” Hawke said. “All three of us have been having similar feelings that we’re ready to revisit those characters. There’s nine years between the first two movies and, if we made the film next summer, it would be nine years again so we’ve really started thinking that would be a good thing to do. We’re going to try write it this year.” If you’re at all like us, you imagined/hoped that after the last movie — which ended with Celine adorably singing Nina Simone to Jesse, and Jesse missing his flight — these two neurotic kids ended up together, even though, more realistically, they probably would have stayed in bed for three days, freaked out, and then decided not to exchange telephone numbers or e-mails again because it worked out so dramatically last time. May their third time be the charm. And title suggestions welcome in the comments: Before Midnight? Before Noon? Before 7 p.m.?
