Fred Armisen Released a 7-Inch Based on an SNL Sketch

Fred Armisen’s “love letter” to his favorite bands from his teenage years started as a sketch, and has now released a 7-inch. Crisis of Conformity, sort of an eighties hardcore tribute band, made its debut on SNL in February 2010 in a sketch called “Band Reunion at the Wedding,” and now Drag City has released an honest-to-god 7-inch — complete with b-side! — of “Fist Fight.” Hee! Fugazi’s Brendan Canty recorded the songs, with Armisen playing all the instruments. (On SNL, Dave Grohl provided drums.) “It’s a tribute to Black Flag and Hüsker Dü,” Armisen tells Paper. “It’s a thank you to all the bands who inspired me.”
