Taylor Swift Allegedly Vying for Eponine in Les Miz

Taylor Swift.

The cast of Tom Hooper’s big-screen adaptation of Les Miserables has been impressive so far: Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe will play dueling leads Jean Valjean and Javert, Anne Hathaway is set for Fantine, Eddie Redmayne has been added as Marius, and Helena Bonham Carter is said to be circling the role of Madame Thenardier. But what of sad little waif Eponine, who sings the musical’s most plaintive ballad, “On My Own”? Well, the New York Post claims to know four big-name contenders vying for the role, and they include Scarlett Johansson, Evan Rachel Wood, Lea Michele (who performed in the Broadway version of Les Miz as a little girl), and Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift, everyone! Well, when you think about it, isn’t “You Belong With Me” essentially “On My Own”? But how would T-Swizzle work her patented brand of “All this for me?!” humility into the coveted role? UPDATE:  We made a poster imagining Taylor in the role. We felt like we had to.
