Adrien Brody gets his very own Dangerous Minds with Detachment, from American History X director Tony Kaye. Brody plays Henry Barthes, a substitute teacher (who’s described as “all of us” in other teasers) placed in a failing public school where, wouldn’t you know it, he starts Reaching The Kids. Kaye’s hardly known for schmaltz, though, and the aesthetics even in this short trailer suggest the film is more Half Nelson than Stand and Deliver. And the supporting cast is about as robust as supporting casts get: Christina Hendricks, Lucy Liu, Tim Blake Nelson, Marcia Gay Harden, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Bryan Cranston, and James Caan, among others. And yet, no theme song from Coolio.
