After publicizing and then losing both a producer and a host, the 84th Academy Awards have made it a gamble for anyone to report their latest hire. That said, barring any offensive comments or general dumbassery on either man’s part, Hans Zimmer and Pharrell Williams are to be the music supervisors for the February awards spectacular. How Zimmer, a renowned composer and Oscar winner himself (in 2010, for his Inception score), will collaborate with Williams, the hip-hop super-producer, which could either be interesting or, well, a nonstarter. Either way, should they keep their jobs, “Phans” is an intriguing combination.
