Are you ready for sweeps-week story lines about Rumspringa? Lifetime is developing the “Amish crime drama” Sworn to Silence, reports Deadline, and it’ll be toplined by Neve Campbell as a former Amish girl who returns to her small Amish community as the new chief of police. Lifetime is making a heavy push into star-led dramas, and if Silence gets picked up to series — it’s first being produced as a two-hour movie that doubles as a backdoor pilot — it would join The Client List (with Campbell’s old Party of Five co-star Jennifer Love Hewitt) and, potentially, a new drama starring Melanie Griffith. We’re a little bit sad that Lifetime has both a Melanie Griffith pilot and an Amish crime drama pilot, and yet these two things are not one and the same, but maybe we just have a thing for belief-beggaring projects where Melanie Griffith gets to infiltrate a tight-knit religious community.
