Today on Vulture Recommends: It’s a Director’s Game

Daddy Longlegs Photo: Zeitgeist Films

Directors are the ones calling the shots (pun not intended) among this week’s DVD releases. First up, New York filmmaking brothers Josh and Benny Safdie finally get to see their semi-autobiographical film Daddy Longlegs out on DVD, more than a year after it was released in theaters. Next is Circumstance from first-time filmmaker Maryam Keshavarz, and a pair of young girls in her native Iran exploring their sexual identity. And with Kung Fu Panda 2, also out on DVD this week, Jennifer Yuh Nelson became the highest-grossing director of all time. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
