Blake Lively has been in the mix for many of the auteur-driven movies that have gotten off the ground over the past year, and she spent her last Gossip Girl hiatus shooting Oliver Stone’s Savages, a critical course correction after her potential tentpole The Green Lantern flopped. Now she’s picked up a new project that will prove the most important test yet of her artistic bona fides: She’s landed the lead in Steven Soderbergh’s next movie. The Playlist reports that Lively, Channing Tatum, and Jude Law have all signed up for Soderbergh’s The Side Effects, where Lively will play a nervous woman who gobbles prescription meds while waiting for the release of her husband (Tatum) from prison. Dyed-in-the-wool Lively superfans Baz Luhrmann and David O. Russell have already bought their tickets.
