Party On With This Exclusive Clip From France’s Acclaimed Declaration of War

Valérie Donzelli’s acclaimed French film Declaration of War (opening today in New York, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Bay Area) was once thought to be among the front-runners for a slot in the Oscars’ Best Foreign Film category, but you shouldn’t take that to mean this is some stodgy, clichéd drama. Quite the contrary: It’s a kinetic film that follows the ups and downs of young characters played by Donzelli and her co-writer Jérémie Elkaïm as they fall in love, experience tragedy, and fight to stay together, and you can check out their first meeting at a raucous house party in this exclusive clip. Things get tougher for Donzelli and Elkaïm as the film goes on, but for now, enjoy the cute little twist (and the foreshadowing!) that comes at the end of this scene.
