It sounds like 74-year-old Ridley Scott is close to committing to direct 78-year-old Cormac McCarthy’s recently turned-in The Counselor, the Pulitzer-winning novelist’s first ever spec script. Scott’s stylistic switch from Prometheus — 3D, set in space, likely explosive — to McCarthy’s dusty Southwest tale — No Country for Old Men has been invoked in passing — could be vast. It’s also the most exciting pairing of storytelling septuagenarians we could ask for.
