For a few dramatic days back in November, when Brett Ratner was forced to resign as producer, Eddie Murphy subsequently quit his hosting gig, and Billy Crystal was hired as a last-minute replacement, it was hard to believe that the 2012 Oscar ceremony would be a successful endeavor. But one thing to remember about Billy Crystal is that he’s done this before, and he knows how to woo an audience, which this year means: recruiting the dog. Yes, the Canine James Murphy will be making an appearance at the 85th Academy Awards, and not just in a tux on the red carpet. Uggie has been rehearsing for a proper skit! Doing tricks! For the world! How do you like Uggie now, jealous Artist co-stars?
