If there is one thing Vulture likes in addition to pop culture, it’s food. Especially Vulture’s Amanda Dobbins, who follows up her seminal work on the pizza rap subgenre with an investigation into the obscure world of soft drink songs, as referenced recently by Lana Del Rey in “Diet Mtn Dew.” The earliest known soft drink song is, of course, “I’d Like to Buy the World a Coke,” but the field is surprisingly rich, encompassing everyone from Gucci Mane to A Tribe Called Quest. Okay, maybe it’s not that rich, but every meal needs a beverage, right? Listen to them all over at Vulture Recommends.
