Junot Díaz, the Pulitzer-winning author of 2007’s The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, will release his second book of short stories in September, Riverhead announced today. This Is How You Lose Her will include stories about the various permutations of platonic, erotic, passionate, and romantic love, particularly the heartbroken kinds — “the begging, the crawling over glass, the crying,” as Díaz wrote in “The Sun, the Moon, the Stars.” Díaz’s first book of short stories, Drown, was published in 1996 and foreshadowed a lot of the themes (and locations, and some characters) of Oscar Wao, so maybe there’s a more love-oriented Díaz novel coming our way in eleven short years!
