Audience members for last night’s Colbert Report were sent an email that the taping had been canceled “due to unforseen circumstances,” and it looks like there’ll be repeats for the rest of this week as well. This marks the first time Colbert has suspended production in seven seasons - even when Stephen’s had broken bones or the flu, the show has gone on. For its part, The Daily Show has stopped projection once for the birth of Jon Stewart’s daughter and once when a staff member passed away suddenly. It’s still unknown what triggered the Colbert cancellation, but we hope everyone’s okay over there.
Update: It seems Colbert’s mother is seriously ill, and the show will be suspended till he returns.
