Homeland will be back on September 30, Showtime announced today, which is a searing, shattering 202 days from now. How will we live? All we know so far about the new season is that Jamey Sheridan, who plays Vice-President Walden, has been promoted from recurring to series regular — which means we’ll be seeing a lot more of him and his war-criminal ways. Here’s hoping he gets fleshed out a little bit, though: His character was the one weak spot last season. Dexter also returns the same night, but it’s hard to get excited for the seventh season of the same rigmarole when there’s a second season of Carrie and Brody and Saul and anguish and PTSD and conspiracies and crazy walls to look forward to.
