If you had April 2 as the day Hollywood would give up its love of rehashes, retreads, reboots, remakes, and re-everythings, you’ve lost. Paramount, looking to re-something 1987’s Carl Reiner-directed, Mark Harmon-starring Summer School since 2005, has landed on Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison production company to get the job done. “By bringing aboard Sandler … the studio is signaling that it hopes to bring a more comedic focus to the project,” The Hollywood Reporter writes. Non-Sandler-starring comedy, that is, the likes of which you’ve witnessed in Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Zookeeper, and Joe Dirt.
