Legendary actor and director Clint Eastwood filed a lawsuit against a furniture company Evofurniture and the website Inmod for using his name to market chairs, ottomans, and entertainment centers, reports The Hollywood Reporter. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, claimed that the company and website, “are continuing to use Mr. Eastwood’s name, identity and persona for the purpose of attracting attention to the infringing products.” Public figures file lawsuits all the time to protect their names and rights — it’s a part of being famous. But Eastwood does seem to have a point this time. Just take a look at one of the offending passages cited by Eastwood’s lawyers (bolding courtesy of the actual lawsuit): “When you’re invited into a person’s home, you get to see the good, the bad and the ugly. When visitors come to your home, the Clint 47” Entertainment Center makes your family room alone look like you live in a perfect world of a million dollar baby.” In addition to damages, Eastwood is also seeking a permanent injunction against the company using his name or image.
