Here Are the First Trailers for ABC’s Four New Comedies

You’ve seen the schedule, now here are your first looks at ABC’s new slate of sitcoms for the fall and spring. The one they clearly have the most faith in is The Neighbors, above, which is set to premiere in the sweet post-Modern Family slot on Wednesdays at 9:30pm that floated Happy Endings and Don’t Trust the B- in Apt 23 with good enough ratings to earn them pickups. In it, Lenny Venito and Jami Gertz star as the parents of a family that moves to a gated community in the suburbs only to discover that everyone who lives there is an alien. A pretty fun premise, if pretty much the exact inverse of the Coneheads plot. We’ll see!

Here are the other three trailers:

Malibu County

Reba McEntire plays a version of herself, also named Reba, who moves from Nashville to Malibu with her kids and mom (Lily Tomlin) after her rockstar husband cheats on her. Hoo boy. This one will be mercifully sequestered on Friday nights right after Tim Allen’s Last Man Standing at 8:30pm.

How to Live With Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life)

Sarah Chalke stars as a newly-single mother who’s forced to move in with her very sassy parents (Elizabeth Perkins and Brad Garrett) along with her adorable, also-sassy daughter. This one will be on Wednesdays at 8pm starting in January.

The Family Tools

Perennial “that guy” Kyle Bornheimer stars as a fuckup straight out of seminary school who has to take over for his cranky dad’s (J.K. Simmons) handyman business. Starts in January and will follow How to Live With Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life) at 8:30pm on Wednesdays.
