B.J. Novak to Now Just Temp for ‘The Office’

B.J. Novak is lessening his involvement with The Office both in playing the part of Ryan and off-screen as one of the main writers. Novak might still stop by occasionally and even chip in some writing help, but ultimately he’s gone. This comes after the announcement that he’ll be a consulting producer on The Mindy Project. Though, that won’t be a full-time gig either. It’s crazy to think that after Rainn Wilson leaves to star in Joey with Beets, almost the entire team from the first season, both on camera and behind the scenes, won’t be working on the show anymore. However, the show’s original adapter, Greg Daniels, is coming back in a full-time capacity to direct where the show goes next. With Daniels back on board, NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt said last month that the show will deliver some “explosive story twists.” Yep, that’s why we watch The Office, for its explosive story twists.
