Last Night on Late Night: Bryan Cranston Beat Letterman at His Own Joke

Last night on the Late Show, David Letterman got smart with Bryan Cranston over the five-season run of Breaking Bad. But Cranston stepped right up and proved that you can’t beat his quick wits. Oh, touché, Walter! (And for those of you viewers who possess observation skills as keen as Jesse’s meth and noticed the little blue lumps on Letterman’s desk 22 seconds in, that’s crystal rock candy that Cranston peddled earlier on the show.) Plus: Christopher Nolan’s wrap-up gift for The Dark Knight Rises has left Morgan Freeman puzzled (and revolted) to this day. It was a stuffed bat in a glass box. “I don’t know why he chose me instead of Christian Bale,” Freeman ruminated. “[Bats] are some ugly things.” Also, Joel Kinnaman shared his own Coming to America experience — straight out of Sweden into a trailer park in Del Valle, Texas. “Do you want green with your steak?” asked his host mom at the dinner table. “Uhhh, are there any other colors?… I like blue.” And finally, Russell Brand felt lucky (but still so dirty) to kiss a man as “gorgeous” as Alec Baldwin.
