Here’s a confluence of exciting people: Sundance Best Director honoree Sean Durkin (Martha Marcy May Marlene), Best Actress Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur), and Janis Joplin. Deadline reports a biopic titled Joplin will center on the last six months of the singer’s life, sprinkled with flashbacks to her early days. The $20 million production will contain “exclusive use of 21 of Joplin’s best-known songs,” so no worries about a reprise of 30 Rock’s Janet Jopler/”Chunk of My Lung” situation.
