unnecessary remakes

Guys, We Do Not Need to Remake Jumanji

Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures, mentioned to The Hollywood Reporter that his studio is working on a revamped Jumanji. “We’re going to try and reimagine Jumanji and update it for the present,” he said, as if the 1995 movie didn’t hold up. It does hold up, Doug. Just like Alan’s survival skills and ingenuity held up in the jungle for all those years! We’re all big Chris Van Allsberg fans, but there are so many other picture books out there that would make perfectly good movies in the right hands: Have Christopher Nolan make a Memento-ish If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. Get Dan Harmon to write The Stinky Cheese Man as a genre collage. Ask Sofia Coppola to adapt Miss Nelson Is Missing as a tale of frustration and fantasy. The list goes on and on.
