Who’s down for Best Exotic Marigold Hotel 2? Well, Dustin Hoffman’s got the next best thing: He’s made his directorial debut on a fluffy comedy starring older British actors called Quartet. And yes, he was required by law to cast Maggie Smith. The Downton Abbey scene-stealer plays a former singing star who moves into a retirement house for opera singers (Wii bowling nights are no doubt outrageous there), a house that just so happens to hold three of the former colleagues from her quartet, including her ex-husband. Michael Gambon, Tom Courtenay, and Billy Connolly co-star. We await the poster, where every approving critic’s quote will read, “Oh, how delightful.”
