A good chunk of the 2012 Toronto Film Festival was just released, and your shiny new world-premiering movies are … Looper, the Joseph Gordon-Levitt time-travel assassin movie, which will open the festival; the Wachowskis’ Cloud Atlas; Joss Whedon’s Much Ado About Nothing; Ben Affleck’s Argo, also starring Bryan Cranston; Noah Baumbach’s Frances Ha, starring Greta Gerwig; David O. Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook, a.k.a. the movie in which Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence ballroom dance; Hyde Park on Hudson, a.k.a. the Bill Murray FDR movie; and The Place Beyond the Pines, which reunites Blue Valentine director Derek Cianfrance with none other than Ryan Gosling.
