Sight & Sound released the results of its once-a-decade poll of the greatest films of all time, and there’s movement at the very top: Citizen Kane has been knocked from No. 1 (the position it’s held since 1962) by Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo. Meanwhile, only one film placed in the top ten for the first time, Dziga Vertov’s 1929 documentary Man With a Movie Camera. The whole top ten reads as follows: Vertigo, Citizen Kane, Tokyo Story, The Rules of the Game, Sunrise, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Searchers, Man With a Movie Camera, The Passion of Joan of Arc, and 8 1/2.
