Over/under 180 of the 1,500 people in attendance saying, singing, texting, Instagramming, “I’m on a boat” at Stephen Colbert’s August 10th music festival. It’s not just any boat; there’s a space shuttle on it. Maybe The Flaming Lips will perform on the space craft. Or in it! And then the shuttle will take off from all the good vibes. And then The Flaming Lips will be in space. And then they’ll land on some planet and be greeted as God-Kings. If you’ve seen The Flaming Lips anytime over the last 25 years or so, you’d know that Alien God-Kings seems like an appropriate career path. Tickets don’t seem to be available yet but once they are, go get ‘em, so you can say “bye” the Lips. If not, excerpts from the performances and the shuttle launch will be shown, along with interviews, the week of August 13.
