Todd Phillips, who’ll presumably have mastered the art of the dick joke after The Hangover Part III, is eying a move into drama with Paramount’s remake of the 1974 James Caan film The Gambler. This is a film that a) is written by The Departed and Body of Lies’s William Monahan and b) was once a Martin Scorsese vehicle. The next Hangover will mark Phillips’s eighth feature in the very specific comedy wheelhouse where films like Road Trip and Old School abide.
