Just days after we published our roundup of the ten comic book movies next on deck, Bryan Singer, who directed the first two X-Men films and is producing this current batch, has confirmed the title of the Matthew Vaughn-directed X-Men: First Class sequel — X-Men: Days of Future Past. For those who didn’t have an allowance-destroying comic book obsession in the eighties, Days of Future Past is one of the series’ most famous storylines, and it involves time-traveling and a story that takes place in both the past and a dystopian (naturally) future. Fan sites have speculated that, because of the alternative timelines involved in the original tale, the filmmakers might somehow be able to resolve the many inconsistencies between the characters in First Class and those in the first trilogy. The film is scheduled for release in summer 2014.
