While Warner Bros. is waiting on some China numbers to make it official, it appears as though The Dark Knight Rises has grossed more than $1 billion — it has now earned $431.4 million domestically and $577.7 abroad — making it one of only 11 movies ever to have done so (if, as Nikki Finke notes, you don’t count extra money brought in by the 3-D releases of old 2-D movies, like Star Wars.) This also puts it ahead of its predecessor, The Dark Knight, which ended its 2008 run with $1.0003 billion worldwide.
