And today in movie-to-musical announcements: a stage version of Flashdance, the 1983 dance movie starring Jennifer Beals, a shower, and a conveniently placed chair, will open on Broadway in August of 2013. The score, thankfully, includes both “Maniac” and “What a Feeling,” and presumably off-the-shoulder grey sweatshirts will now be considered appropriate theaterwear. (Welding masks still optional, though better safe than sorry.)
