Back in 2009, Fox filmed the pilot of a new reality series it provisionally called Someone’s Gotta Go, where workers at struggling companies voted on which of their colleagues to fire. Even for reality TV, the whole thing sounded pretty cruel — especially at the height of the recession — and the network eventually shelved the project. However, now that the economy has picked up a little speed, Fox is reportedly considering a four-episode order for the less harsh-sounding Does Someone Have to Go? In this version of the show, employees at dysfunctional — rather than failing — companies will still get a chance to gang up on the office meanie, though they won’t be forced to.
