Despite Thursday Nights, NBC Has Had the Best Start of Its Season in 10 Years

NBC appears to be crawling out of its decade-deep ratings hole, although they’re doing it despite the Thursday night comedies we love, not because of them. Thanks mainly to Sunday Night Football, The Voice, Revolution and Go On, NBC has been first in the coveted 18-49 demographic for the first three weeks of the season for the first time in 10 years. Impressive! Less impressive have been the ratings for 30 Rock, Parks and Rec, The Office and Up All Night, which have been universally dismal so far. Enjoy ‘em while you can, because these smart, beloved shows are probably not going to be around much longer. Next season, it’s five nights of Voice auditions, one of football, and one of Revolution. Hey, they’re just giving people what they want. Maybe we’re the crazy ones.
