Fox Buys a Couple of Comedies about Couples

The broadcast networks are still buying up new shows to develop for the 2013-2014 TV season, and Deadline reports that Fox just purchased a pair of sitcoms, both about young couples. The first, an untitled show from writing partners Michael Colton and John Aboud (Sit Down Shut Up, Allen Gregory), follows a New York couple whose lives are turned topsy-turvy when the wife’s Uruguayan parents move in to help raise the kids. It’s based on Colton’s real-life wacky Uruguayan in-laws, who he’s written about for New York Times Magazine. Fox’s second new couple comedy is from Dan Gregor and Doug Mand (How I Met Your Mother, NSTF:SD:SUV), and it follows the trials and tribulations of a 30something couple in the style of a Civil War documentary. I’m guessing the results are much less bloody than the actual Civil War.
