Here Are the Non-Fighting Parts of the 2012 BET Hip-Hop Awards

The big story from this year’s BET Hip-Hop Awards — which were taped a few weeks back in Atlanta and aired last night — was that Rick Ross and Young Jeezy got into a fight backstage (and then in the parking lot, according to Flex). But other things happened, too! Such as: a particularly rousing tribute to the late Chris Lighty, founder of Violator Management, who died last month. And the cyphers, of course (Donald “Childish Gambino” Glover made it into one, which is a decision you can discuss among yourselves). Oh, and they gave out some awards, like G.O.O.D. Music’s “Mercy” for Best Collaboration and Drake’s “HYFR” for Best Hip-Hop Video. But those are not really the point. (Warning: possibly terrifying auto-play ahead.)

Here’s the Chris Lighty tribute, featuring A Tribe Called Quest, Busta Rhymes, Fat Joe, Missy Elliott, and 50 Cent:

The “Man With the Iron Fists” cypher, featuring A$AP Rocky, Angel Haze, Joey BadA$$, Drilky Graham, and yes, Childish Gambino:

The “West Coast” cypher, featuring Snoop Dogg/Lion, DJ Quik, E-40, Xzibit, Kurupt, Kendrick Lamar, and YG (Lamar also performed “Recipe” during the show):

And the rest are here.
