Joe Biden Is Coming to ‘Parks and Recreation’

Joe Biden (who is still the Vice President of the United States for those not keeping up) is cameoing in next week’s episode of Parks and Recreation (airing Nov. 15), Entertainment Weekly reports. Biden has been the object of Leslie’s Knope’s sexual desires for years now (she once revealed that her perfect man would have “the brains of George Clooney and the body of Joe Biden”). The Parks crew got Biden to film the scene when they were in Washington, D.C., shooting the season premiere (which featured cameos from John McCain and other politicians who aren’t as exciting as Biden).

Parks and Rec boss Michael Schur told EW that scoring Joe Biden was “so much less difficult than we ever possibly imagined. His staff really loves the show, and he apparently had watched the show with his family and his family liked it… The hardest part was keeping it secret for so long because there’s all these FEC rules and equal-time rules. We couldn’t air it before the election because it was the equivalent of a campaign contribution to advertise for one candidate.” The Biden episode was originally supposed to air tonight, right after the election, but the season’s episodes were pushed back a week after Hurricane Sandy. I’m worried having Biden guest star is setting the bar too high for future guests of the show, as there’s only one person the Parks and Rec gang can get to top this one (any guesses who I’m referring to?).

Here’s a neat montage of all of Leslie Knope’s references to her Joe Biden infatuation over the years.
