Deadline reports that writer John McLaughlin (Black Swan, Hitchcock) and producer Tom Thayer (Hitchcock) have begun working with Johnny Carson’s estate to adapt Bill Zehme’s Carson the Magnificent: An Intimate Portrait into a feature biopic. As was revealed in this spring’s PBS documentary on Carson, the former king of late-night makes an interesting subject, as he was incredibly popular yet lived a very private, if not detached, personal life. In other news, no one has yet started working on a Ed McMahon biopic to play eight feet to the left of Carson’s.
