Last year, when asked by Vulture if he would do the next Star Trek in 3-D, J. J. Abrams sounded unenthused about the idea. “I dunno,” he said. “What do you wanna see? 2-D or 3D?” It seems he’s had something of a change of heart. Speaking to ComicBookMovie.com earlier today about Star Trek Into Darkness, Abrams said that “3-D was something that, frankly, I was not a big fan of to begin with. Essentially in order for us to make this movie, the studio said ‘You gotta do this in 3-D’… And the truth is that I’ve actually been having a lot of fun with it.” For the techno-geeks out there: the project will actually be the first big movie to be predominantly shot in IMAX and then converted to 3-D. We hope Abrams has discovered the joy of that process, too.
