Seth MacFarlane to Direct and Star in His First Western

Hot on the heels of his first movie, Ted, becoming a box office smash, Seth MacFarlane is going to be starring in his first live action movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. MacFarlane is planning to star in and direct A Million Ways to Die in the West, from a script he co-wrote with Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild, who also wrote Ted with him. The movie is said to be in the vein of Blazing Saddles and will use contemporary humor to score laughs from how hard it was to live in the Old West. A Million Ways is set for a summer 2013 start date. Seth MacFarlane hasn’t had a lot of live action acting experience outside of his recent SNL hosting stint, the occasional TV guest spot, and some late night appearances, but he’s been making a bigger push lately towards being an on-camera presence, with SNL this year and his Oscar-hosting stint this coming February. Other movie projects he has in the works that’ll probably happen eventually are a Ted sequel and a Family Guy feature film, but it’s nice to see him following up Ted with another original movie. Still no plans for a Cleveland Show movie. Somebody make it happen!
