Now that George Lucas has passed off the Star Wars franchise to Disney and Kathleen Kennedy, Rick McCallum, who produced the three Star Wars prequels and the special edition re-releases of the originals, is parting ways with Lucasfilm. In a statement, he assured fans that the operation was being left in good hands: “There’s only person in the world who could do this, and that’s Kathleen Kennedy.” McCallum plans include a slate of independent films, and Lucas has already expressed the desire to collaborate with him again in the future.
