“The doctor said you have signs of Alzheimer’s,” the 68-year-old singer tells the BBC. “He said it’s not bad yet but it’s going to get worse. How can I not remember songs that I wrote? That’s frustrating.” Having defeated prostate and colon cancer, pneumonia, and collapsed lungs, Womack released his first new album of original material in eighteen years in 2012, the excellent Bravest Man in the Universe. Here’s hoping he gets the opportunity to keep the creative streak going peacefully.
