The OWN Network is bulking up with a half-dozen new originals. The channel’s first scripted series — drama The Have and the Have Nots and comedy Love Thy Neighbor — both come from Tyler Perry. Also forthcoming are reality shows Blackboard Wars (about a struggling New Orleans school), Raising Whitley (comedian Kym Whitley raises a baby with friends), Dogfellas (ex-mobster becomes dog groomer) and Golden Sisters (three elderly sisters operate a salon). All six series “reflect the best of the human spirit,” says OWN president Sheri Salata.
