Everyone’s favorite Kyle Chandler has been cast to star in the pilot for Showtime’s The Vatican, a contemporary thriller set in the modern-day Catholic Church. Chandler will play Cardinal Thomas Duffy, the charismatic and mysterious archbishop of New York whose progressive beliefs earn him both supporters and enemies within the Church. Ridley Scott is set to direct the pilot. It is slightly surprising that Chandler would take a job on TV (especially one where he can’t be perfectly married to someone), considering his budding film career; however, more Chandler is never a bad thing, so we’ll allow it. Amen.
