Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone Start a Production Company and Set Up Three New Movies

Bridesmaids and Mike and Molly’s Melissa McCarthy has her first movie in which she has a starring role, Identity Theft, coming out tomorrow, and she’s already set up her own production company with her husband, writer/actor Ben Falcone. According to The Hollywood Reporter, McCarthy and Falcone’s company is called On the Day and has three movie projects in the works. They are:

  • Michelle Darnell - Based on an original character created by McCarthy and on a story written by McCarthy and Falcone, the plot for this movie is under wraps. McCarthy and Falcone will write the script with fellow Groundlings alum Steve Mallory.
  • Cousin Irv from Mars - Based on an upcoming book of the same name from Bruce Eric Kaplan, a New Yorker cartoonist, producer on Girls, and Seinfeld writer, Cousin Irv from Mars tells the story of a boy and his weird cousin who is from - you guessed it - Mars.
  • Just Do It - The story of a long-married couple’s attempts to rekindle their relationship with a 101-day sex marathon, based on Douglas Brown’s memoir Just Do It: How One Couple Turned Off the TV and Turned On Their Sex Lives for 101 Days (No Excuses!). McCarthy is attached to play a role, and she and Falcone will write the script.
