The new clip for Mumford & Sons’s “Whispers in the Dark” begins with intrigue. What’s happening? Is the band broken up? Are they starring in some kind of tribute to The Usual Suspects? Is this going to be four music videos in one? Nah, it’s just a kind of baffling travelogue of each Mumfordian’s trip to a big gig. Marcus motorcycles, the hunky one drives a car and does some slo-mo running, the tall one takes photos and walks on a boat, and the banjo one gets his beard prosthetically applied — sacrilege! It’s less of a narrative than the Idris Elba video, but also less cryptic.
