Marlon Wayans Is Launching His Own Funny Or Die-Esque Video Site

Marlon Wayans is following Will Ferrell’s lead. The comedian announced to THR this morning that he’s launching Whatthefunny.com, a video site modeled after Ferrell’s Funny or Die. Wayans even has FOD founder Randy Adams as COO. The site is live now, but won’t be officially launching until late 2013/early 2014. Wayans and Adams hope to produce several 5 to 10-minute shorts before the launch.

Wayans calls WhattheFunny a “playground for my family and for all comedians who have something funny they want to do.” No talent has signed on yet, but Wayans says he’s talked with family members and former co-stars about creating content for the site. Explains Adams, “If Funny or Die is the Saturday Night Live of the web, what we’re trying to do is the In Living Color of the web.” It is surprising that few comedians have launched their own sites like this in the wake of Funny or Die’s success. We’ll just have to wait and see how this one turns out.
