Paul Giamatti has been taking a lot of “Paul Giamatti” roles lately — the eccentric, shouty, beardy scene-stealer. (He’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2’s villain, too. Hmmm.) But here’s one that could be really great: Giamatti will play Dr. Eugene Landy, Brian Wilson’s therapist, in an indie called Love & Mercy. “While Landy primarily served as Wilson’s therapist, he also wormed his way into the artist’s life to an unhealthy and perhaps unethical degree,” writes the Wrap. John Cusack and Paul Dano will play Wilson at different points in the Beach Boy’s life.
