LA’s stand-up scene is changing fast. In the past year alone, Scott Aukerman’s live show Comedy Bang Bang wrapped up its ten-year run and popular NYC shows like Kristen Schaal and Kurt Braunohler’s Hot Tub and Joe Mande and Noah Garfinkel’s Totally J/K moved to town. Now, another seismic shift in the LA comedy plates is on the way as the producers of the popular stand-up show Holy Fuck announced this week that it’s ending too. The free weekly show, which has been running since 2009 and is held in an old movie theater downtown, has become a pillar of the local comedy scene over the last few years and was recently immortalized with a live album. The last Holy Fuck show will be on July 2nd. The show’s producer/founder Dave Ross explained why it’s ending in a heartfelt Tumblr post that’s real hard to sum up.
