Helen Hunt is getting ready to direct, produce, and star in Ride. It’ll be Hunt’s second directorial effort, following 2007’s Then She Found Me. Hunt wrote the script and will act across Luke Wilson, Dexter’s David “Angel” Zayas, Richard Kind, and Leonor Varela. Hunt will play a magazine editor whose son (Brenton Thwaites, who just scored the lead in Jeff Bridges’s The Giver) ditches college to surf in California. “He pursues his dream and she pursues him,” Deadline synopsizes. “Along the way she meets a surf teacher (Wilson) who brings her to life in every way. Both mother and son find their own version of love, sex and an unexpected state of grace in a most unlikely place.” Hearts shall be warmed.
