‘The Simpsons’ and ‘Family Guy’ Are Doing a Crossover

Just like when the Jetsons met the Flintstones before them, the Simpsons and the Griffins are set to go face to face next year in a special crossover episode. EW reports that an upcoming episode of Family Guy entitled “The Simpsons Guy” will feature the Griffin family going on a road trip to Springfield. Simpsons voice actors Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, and Hank Azaria are all voicing characters in the Family Guy episode, with Harry Shearer conspicuously absent. Here’s how EW describes the crossover:

They cross paths with Homer, who graciously greets his new “albino” visitors, and the two families become fast friends. Stewie is impressed with Bart and his assortment of pranks, Lisa befriends Meg and tries to figure out exactly what it is that she’s good at, and Marge and Lois put aside their housework in favor of some bonding. Meanwhile, Peter and Homer argue over which beer is better: Pawtucket or Duff.

This should be weird as the Simpsons haven’t ever done a big crossover show, besides a mid-’90s episode that featured Jon Lovitz guest starring as his character Jay Sherman from The Critic. We’ll have to wait a while to see how this thing turns out as the Family Guy episode won’t be airing until Fall 2014 because of how long animation takes and all that.
