It has been five years since animated film legend Hayao Miyazaki’s last feature, the critically lauded Ponyo, so it’s very exciting to get a glimpse at his next offering, especially four full minutes of it. Entitled The Wind Rises, the film is based on a novel by Tatsuo Hori and a manga by Miyazaki, and tells the fictionalized story of Jiro Horikoshi, the engineer of the Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighter plane the Japanese used in World War II. Though this is the foreign trailer, don’t worry; you don’t need English subtitles as there is very little dialogue and it would only distract from the seriously stunning imagery.
